Loch Longs

The Long Loch One design (LLOD) is now in it's 75th year.

It's classic design, seaworthiness and above all the love and dedication it instils into it's owners has made this 21ft yacht a feature of the Firth of Clyde for over half a century.

More recently this fantastically designed boat has made a new following on the contrasting shores of a Suffolk river. Aldeburgh Yacht Club now has the largest single fleet of Loch Longs anywhere and it's popularity continues to grow, as do the links between the East Anglian club and those at Cove.

The last few years have seen anything up to ten Loch Longs being towed over 450 miles to Scotland to compete in the annual Loch Long week, an event contested almost as fiercely in the bars of Cove and Kilcreggan as on the water. As the fleet in Aldeburgh grows,it has become usual to hold the event down in Aldeburgh every three years and representation from Cove has been excellent every time.

This year (2012) sees the 75th anniversary of the Loch Long so we are expecting celebrations to exceed all others, so why not join us and toast to another 75 years of this wonderful vessel......
